New Home Gift Ideas: Personalised Prints for a First Place

Moving into a first place is a big moment. The keys, the empty rooms, the boxes stacked in the hall. A personalised print is a lovely way to mark it, something made around their actual address, their new front door, or the people who have just moved in. We make all of ours by hand in our studio in Hessle, and we send a proof before we print anything, so the gift lands exactly right.

Here are six new home gift ideas, all personalised, from a £7 digital file up to a framed piece for the hallway wall.

1. A map of where they live now

The Personalised House Map takes the street or town they have just moved to and draws it into a shape: their home, a heart, or a round eucalyptus wreath. You tell us the location and a short line of text (the address, a date, or "our first home"), and we set it out. It starts at £8 as an Email PDF you can print yourself, £10 for an A5 print, and goes up to £17 for A3, or framed in black, white or grey up to £31. It is one of those gifts that makes a new postcode feel like home.

2. Their new front door, framed

There is something about a first front door. The Personalised Door Print draws their actual door: the colour, the number, the letterbox, with an optional wreath if you want a seasonal touch. From £7 as a digital file, £10 for an A5 print, up to £30 framed. It is a small, specific thing that says you noticed the place is theirs now.

3. The WiFi print every guest ends up asking for

Practical, and the one that gets used every single day. A Personalised WiFi Print puts the network name and password on the wall in a design that suits the room, so nobody has to hunt for a scrap of paper when friends come round. 4. A family print for the new living room wall

An empty living-room wall is an invitation. A print with the whole household on it fills it with something personal. 5. A last-minute or long-distance option

Not every housewarming lands on a convenient date, and not everyone can wait for the post. Most of our new home prints, including the house map, the door print and the WiFi print, come as an Email PDF from £7. We personalise it, send you a proof, and once you are happy you get a print-ready file to print at home or at a local shop. Handy if the people who moved are the other end of the country, or if you have left it a little late.

6. Frame it for the wall

If you want it to go straight up, we frame in solid wood, made in the UK, in black, white or grey (those are the three frame colours we offer). The front is 1.2mm acrylic rather than glass, which is worth knowing if the new place has small children or pets, or if the frame is going somewhere it might get knocked. A framed A5 starts around £15 depending on the design, with A4 and A3 above that.

How we make it, in Hessle

Every print is made to order by us, Lee and Sam, in our studio in Hessle (HU13). Once you have ordered, we put your details into the design and email you a proof. Nothing goes to print until you have seen it and said yes, so the address, the spellings and the names are all checked by you first. One thing to be clear about: because each print is personalised to you, we cannot take it back for a change of mind, so the proof is your chance to get every detail right.
