Personalised Teacher Thank-You Gifts for the End of Term

The last week of term comes around quickly. If your child has had a teacher who made this year a good one, a small handmade gift tends to say more than another box of chocolates. We're Duffy's Creations, a husband and wife studio in Hessle, and we make personalised prints to order, so a teacher's name and a whole class of children can end up on a keepsake they'll actually want to keep.

Here are five thank-you ideas for the end of term. Every one is made by hand, and we send you a proof to check before anything is printed. The prices below are the real ones from our shop, and each idea links through to where you can personalise it.

1. A class print with a rainbow for every child

This is the one most parents come to us for. A personalised teacher class print has a small rainbow for each pupil, and it's personalised with the teacher's name and the names of the children in the class. It works as a thank-you from the whole group rather than one family, so it's a nice thing to organise between parents. Prices start at £10 for an A5 print, and framed versions start at £15. 2. Bumblebees, ladybirds or handprints if rainbows aren't their thing

The same class-print idea comes in a few designs, so you can pick one that suits the teacher or the year group. There's a bumblebees version, one with ladybirds, and a handprints design where each child gets their own little print. All of them take the teacher's name and the class names, all of them are £10 for an A5 print or £15 framed, and you can size up to A4 or A3 if it's going on a classroom wall.

3. A print for a childminder or nursery key worker

Teachers aren't the only people who get your child through the year. A childminder or a nursery key worker often spends just as much time with them, and they don't always get a thank-you. Our rainbow childminder thank-you print is made for exactly that, personalised with their name and your child's. It starts at £7 as an emailed PDF, £10 as an A5 print, or from £14 framed.

4. A framed A3 the whole class can go in on

If a group of parents want to give one bigger gift, an A3 framed class print holds its own on a wall and reads well from across a room. Framed A3 versions start at £28, and you can add a mount for a bit more if you'd like the design to sit in a border. Frames come in black, white or grey, they're solid wood made here in the UK, and the front is 1.2mm acrylic rather than glass, which is worth knowing if it's going up in a classroom full of small hands.

5. A digital version if you've left it late

If term ends before a posted gift would arrive, the childminder print can be sent as an emailed PDF from £7. You still get a proof to approve first, then the file lands in your inbox and you can print it at home or at a local print shop and pop it in a frame you already have. It's a decent way to hand something over on the last day without cutting it fine on the post.

How we make them

Every print is made to order in our studio in Hessle (HU13). You send us the names and the wording, we set the artwork out and send you a proof, and nothing goes to print until you're happy with it. That step matters more than usual with a class print, because a spelling slip on a child's name is the sort of thing you'd notice straight away, so it's better caught on the proof.

A few practical notes. Prints come in A5, A4 and A3, and you can order them as a print on its own or framed in black, white or grey. Because each one is personalised, it's made just for you and can't be returned for a change of mind, so the proof is your chance to get every name right. And since everything is made to order and we proof it first, it's worth ordering with a few days to spare before the last day of term rather than the night before.
